so I gathered the bottles and emptied the trash

searching the sofa for pencils and dimes

well the clothes are all dirty, there's nothing to eat
I put on my shoes and head out to the street

when I get to the store there's nowhere to park

well the day's getting old, I'm hungry and tired
I'd take me a nap but my brain is too wired

now my baby walks in, she's been gone a while
she's had a hard day but still gives me a smile
and I'm happy to see her, it gives me relief
I let go my pain and I forget my grief
